Prepare JEE Mains and Advance Without Coaching

Best way to prepare without coaching is self study and self confidence.
I'll tell you how I cracked IIT-JEE in my days without any coaching.

1).Set you study hours:- as the exam is for 3 continuous hours, you should not take breaks within 3 hours of study span. Take a break after 3 hours of study. Most student get tired and their efficiency goes down in last hour of exam.

2).Focus on all three subjects(PCM) equally. You can choose one favorite and can give it extra hour but never give less attention to any of these three.

3). Be self confident. Keep saying to yourself that you can do it. Yes I have the caliber to crack it. Self confidence is the most important thing. Most students believe in deep that they can't crack the exam before even writing it.

4). If you have any dream college, download a picture of it and paste it on the wall where you can see most of the time. Tell yourself everytime you see that picture that I'm going to take admission there. This keeps on motivating you.

Get solved papers of last 10- 20 years arihant publication.
Read Ncert carefully.
Practise and solve guess papers and sample papers available on net and book stores.
Get a good percentage in boards.

That's more than enough.

JUGAAD: get a fake caste certificate
(like I did ;-) :-p )
(Just kidding)

Jokes apart always remember
It's never too late
So start asap and do well

This question takes me back to days when I was preparing for IIT JEE. Now, the pattern has changed. As far as I know JEE advanced asks more difficult questions than that of the JEE Mains.

  • Mastery over the concepts is what contributes to success.
  • Study daily for the hours fixed by you  so you might not suffer from pressure at the eleventh hour. Stick to your time table.
  • I think, you should study for the advanced as soon as you grasp the concepts. First practice the JEE mains level questions and then try solving the questions of JEE advanced. Otherwise, I don't think you would be able to get ample of time separately for the JEE Advanced. Why to take the JEE Avanced as a havoc if you are understanding the concepts well?!
  • Don't underestimate the easy questions. Keep practicing them too.
  • Have discussions with your friends.
  • Read interviews of toppers to know their strategy.
  • Keep yourself motivated.

I can tell you the books which I followed:

1.) NCERTs
2.) Mathematics : RD Sharma & KC Sinha
3.) Physics : HC Verma & Resnik ,Halliday & Walker
4.) Chemistry : Organic : Morrison & Boyd
                           Inorganic: Op Tandon
                           Physical : RC Mukherjee(for practicing) & P. Bahadur

TIP: Practice previous year's question papers within time limit..
