See NO need to do books like rs aggrwal, DONT EVEN touch pradeep, Ganesh and all sorts of useless books.
1. Mend Your basics, repair them and continue revising them till the last. Study NCERT to its very core, dont leave a word of it, do all questions thoroughly, even intext, solved examples, additional exercises.
2. As 5 months is a good enough time to prepare for mains buy H.C. Verma and do atleast MCQs(atleast). For maths you can buy the additional questions book that ncert has published last year only and for chemistry just ncert is enough.
3. Now one very important thing BUY A 30- YEAR AIEEE QUESTION BANK and practice it thouroughly. This is going to be very useful to you and has 2 benefits
a. You can practice the questions of the chapters that you revise, see the past year questions, can have an insight and overview of the questions
b. You can test yourself after every 2 weeks from the previous year questions

Remember learn shortcuts not only hard  work but smart work is also very important for jee preparation.
last few extremely important words: "BOARDS IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS IN MAINS"
ps: my friend scored 170 in mains and 97.5% in boards and scored 2500 rank, another of my friend scored 270 in mains and scored 92% and got 5000 rank in mains. THEREFORE FOCUS ON BOARDS.

Now, assuming, you have grabbed concepts in your 11th and 12th, so this is the time you should start practicing questions to apply those concepts. Go from easy, to moderate, to difficult level. Figure out how much time you need to give where (anyways, you'll have to devote a lot of time for high-level application based questions).

Which book to start with, well this is one question that an aspirant does not ask 5 months before the exam!
Dude, if you are serious then pull up your socks!
